The 63 is stainless, was introduced in 1977, and the serial number range starts with M. If your gun just has a number, instead of one (or more) letters and then a number - like M3249 or ML4452 - then it is not a 63.
If it is a 63, it should be stamped, inside the yoke/crane/whatever that is MOD 63, or maybe MOD 63- something.
But if your serial number is just a number, and it does not have the model number stamped on it, it sounds like you may have a nickel 22/32 Kit Gun.
That is presuming you actually have a Smith and Wesson, and not a copy - Taurus, Rossi, Eibar, etc.
