38/44 Outdoorsman Nut
There is, amongst us, a 38/44 Outdoorsman collector (guns/pictures/serial numbers/whatever)-----especially pre-war; and I've forgotten his name.
That said, I have some material from the S&W Historical Foundation he will likely find of interest. I'll be happy to send it along just as soon as I find out to whom and where to send it.

Could also be GLL.
Aspenhill leans toward Heavy Duties, with an Outdoorsman or two thrown in, GLL seems about opposite.
As always, I could be very wrong

Yup, I think you are right.
rct269,
If it is stuff you can e-mail or post, I would be interested too.
I've only got one 38/44 OD, but I'm always interested in learning more about it.

I'm still studying variations of the .44 HE Handshake (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1950, and 24/624). I believe that there is an OD Handshake similar to the HD Handshake, but have never witnessed it. Then there's the Transitional Handshake that includes elements of the Pre-War Handshake and the Pre-Model Handshake. It's complicated. Perhaps an article in the S&WCA Journal would help.

VM,
Those belonged to my 38/44 Heavy Duty mentor, brucehmx. After imparting wisdom on many of us, he decided to go another direction and liquidated his collection. I am proud to say that I own several of them including the two pre war 4inchers in the picture below. I have included some additional pictures of his collection.
I hope you enjoy the view!
Bill

Nice display Bill. Mine are all locked up in the safes. I never really thought about having them out.

Thanks for the compliments on the collection. It was a lot of fun. I kept a few for my son to enjoy. We have centered on WW1 weapons for the last 4 years. Planning a trip to Europe for the WW1 centennial in 2014. Peter the collection was kept in a nice safe. Was displayed in the "Man Room" for photos and when friends were coming over.

Bruce is responsible for my current state of poverty !
About ten years ago he got me hooked on .38/44 Outdoorsman revolvers and my bank account has never been the same since. I am now one of the major consumers of Top Ramen in North America as a result !
Thanks Bruce !
Jerry
