Default short action grip on long action

Question ? Will a set of short action N frame grips fit a 38/44 HD ? If possible how much alteration? Thank You for your suggestions.

I defer to my distinguished colleague from the north...I've had some that fit in this sitation pretty well, but I may have just been lucky.
