Default new aquisition

Just picked up a new to me snubnose 38 special. looks like a model 10 but it doesnt have that number on the frame. It has a serial number of C 869XX. Any help on what I have would be great, thanks.

I was made in the late '40s, maybe early '50s. They were not model-marked until 1957.
If it has a steel frame it is a Pre M10. If the frame is aluminum it is a Pre M12.
we'd like to see a picture.

I put the stag grips on it from another gun. Thought it would look more "pimp"

That's definitely a K frame snubby. I think I'd rather prefer the original grips with a Tyler T.

There are those who can restore your grips to like-new appearance for a price, usually less than $100. That will keep them original. But for shooting, I much prefer Hogue or Pachmayr rubber grips, which are fairly cheap.
