Christmas Transition 38/44 Outdoorsman
A fellow forum member and very good friend made my Christmas with a Transition 38/44 Outdoorsman. This one, S70777, was shipped to Whitney Sporting Goods, Denver, CO on 12 Sep 1946. I need one in the S69000 range! Here are some pics for you.

Really nice. Looking for one myself.
|
Beautiful!
|
Sweet! I love those postwar transitional ODs.
|
That's gorgeous. Why do you need one in the S69000 range?
|
Nice gun....looks sort of like one I just started a thread about myself...what are the odds?
|
Yummy! :)!
|
I certainly like mine! # 59398 from 1940. It's the best shooter I have!

Nice score. I love the grain on those grips.
Hard to beat the early postwar OD's Chuck |
WOW! Just WOW!

The hammer/barrel combination on transitionals is just so sweet!!

I have one in similar condition, came with some cokes. Great shooter, in fact next range trip (if the weather ever gets above 17) I think I will make it an outdoorsman trip and take the 38/44 and the .22 OD

Thanks for the comments! I plan on seeing what this one shoots like too, but will wait for a day that the weather gets out of single digits!
Hondo44-Transition 38/44 Outdoorsman serial number range is S69000-S71000. Now that I have one in S70000 and S71000, all I need for the trifecta is the S69000 range! Thanks, Bill |
That is a VERY good friend you have! Outstanding!

Bill:
Unfair ! Transitional Outdoorsman are my very favorite revolvers and you are buying them all up ! ;) ;) I am going to start buying Heavy Duties ! :) VERY nice one ! Over 2,300 transitional Outdoorsman were produced and I know of only 30 in the S 69000 range that exist for sure ! Thank you for the photos ! Jerry |
Bill:
Was that "very good friend" a portly old, bearded gentleman in a red suit?:D If so, that friend of yours has also made my Christmas for many years... Congrats on a beauty! |

1Aspenhill, super gun and I am glad you got the serial number you were looking for. |
Very nice. I think there are some indoor ranges close to you! Have a nice new year. This one has ended rather well for you.
|
Very nice Bill!
I noted that your Transition has the sight to the end of the barrel. Mine is recessed back a bit like my Registered Magnum. |
Great looking outdoorman. Thanks for sharing.
