Gun show find Chief Special
Up here in the NW we had a small Gun Show, not small in attendance though. lo and behold laying there on the table was a CS, Round Sight, Five screw, great shape, S/N#1086. Need I say more, for those of us that were just chatting about Baby CS's and finding guns, and Gun Shows. I was so excited I thought I had won the lottery and afraid I hadn't so I had my partner verify what I thought i was seeing. I bought it, or better, pretty much stole it. Here's pic's if I can do it right.

Very nice find. Are the grips numbered to the pistol?
I would letter that one if it was mine. The condition looks excellent.
Congratulations.

Good for you! That's a great find.
I would have been all over that one too. The fact that they are still turning up here and there gives me reason to hope.

Very nice looking 4 digit CS. I would guesstimate that one to be late 1951. I have two 5 digits but my only 4 digit has a J prefix making it much newer.

Nice find !
My CS is 61 digits lower at Serial 1025 and shipped in December 1951
I would think yours will be fairly close to that.

Nice Baby Chief! If you don't mind my asking, what did you have to give for it? I'm pretty discouraged with gun shows- I went to the Puyallup show several months ago and didn't see much except everyday guns (OK) and high prices (not OK). Everyone seems to think they have a treasure when its just another old S&W or Colt. I heard about a recent show in Chehalis/Centralia & thought about going, but didn't want to drive 2 plus hours each way just to find the same old beef jerkey, camo gear, & over-priced guns.

Boy, you guys make a person feel great. Yes, ALL the numbers match Barrel, Cylinder, grips and butt. $550, plus the registration fee. That is why I say I stole it. I copy you Ed on the Medical Assistance, I never let it out of my hands until my partner got there to verify my eye sight. The seller knew he had a Pre-Mod but didn't realize anything else, from what I could tell he didn't really care, short of the fact he probably would have liked more money.
Thanks for the info on the Dec 51 ship date, I thought it would be late 51 or very early 52, according to the Data Base numbers I have seen.
