Model 36 I picked up today
I got this Model 36 no dash at a local pawn shop today. Serial number 165048. Grips number to the gun. I'm guessing it was born before 1961, but I'm not sure. Paid $383 out the door. Can anyone give me any info? Thanks, Joel

Yes. Late 1950s. Just a few years older than my carry piece.
Third style flat latch.
Nice find.

That IS a nice find. Looks to be in great shape. I would certainly have been tempted if I had seen it at that price. Nice going, Joel.

I wish I could find stuff like that. Most of the pawn shops around here want new street prices on their used guns. $559 for a used Ruger 345 for example or $885 for a 90% M27-5. I keep looking for a good price on a nice used S&W but no joy. Guess I don't live right.

Nice find! I agree with Jack and think you're clearly right about pre 1961; probably late 1958 or early 1959.
