Default Mainspring for 32 W.C.F ctg

I have a 5 screw old M&P ?--or Hand Ejecter? serial 853xx marked 32 W.C.F ctg on bbl.serial no also on flat under bbl and on face of cyl.I removed grips and some how broke the mainspring while cocking the hammer. Where can i find a replacement spring? and how difficult is replacing it? Thanks Paul

Its the same spring that was used for the .38's. They are readily available from
gunsmiths, gun parts places, and even collectors here on the forum. It might even
be that current-production mainsprings will work satisfactorly. GunParts, or maybe
Brownells, ought to carry a K-frame manspring.

Give this link a try.

When you are ready to replace the spring, remove the tension screw in the lower front part of the stock frame. With the stocks off, place the fork on the upper end of the spring in the stirrup and take a narrow piece of soft wood, hold it between the spring and the front stock frame, so you can bend the bottom of the spring enough to slide it into the bottom groove. Re-tighten the screw all the way and you should be good to go.

The mainspring in my .22 outdoorsman was weak resulting in a lot of fail to fire. A Wolfe K frame mainspring fixed it right up, so another source to keep the old ones working.
