Great story. How far apart were the gun and the box...different states? Can they be traced back to some time in the past when they were in closer proximity to each other??

Hondo-The box came out of North Carolina and the gun came out of Texas. I have had the gun for about 4 years. I was told the box was out of an old gun shop that closed not to long ago.

Ship to? ? ?
Hey Jim
Please keep us posted as to where the box/gun was shipped? We might see another state mentioned! When the case came to me I expected a real "beater"! I was surprised to see a case that did not show many miles. It needed a liitle TLC and some polishing and as usual a total new interior! Great story!

I'm assuming the s/n on the box was put there by S&W when it left the factory (?) Is that what is called "grease pencil"? I did not know they did that to presentation cases.
Nice to hear such a good story.

Happy endings make everyone's day! Thanks for sharing the story of the gun and box - and, moreover the further collaboration to get it relined. My guess is that some tools and paperwork are not far behind!
Regards,
Dyson

44 Magnum Presentation Box
I haven't much to add except that someone asked if all the Presentation boxes were numbered. This one was numbered when I obtained it but the person from whom I obtained it had another one with all the tools but will not part with it and there is no number on the bottom of the other box. He seems to really like it although he has nothing appropriate to put in it. I will continue to ask for him to sell it to me but he is also an OLD MAN who is set in his ways. Could be if we both live long enough I will have something he would rather have than the box. Nice work Joe and I'm glad the revolver found its box!!!!
