S&W Pre-Model 10 Snub Nose .38 Spl
Local to me, hammer bobbed, whatcha think it's worth? How much does the hammer kill the value. Non-original grips?

I also saw that and gagged, since he claimed it was IMMACULATE, LOL!! Those proper older hammers and stocks will not be cheap. The finish on the gun is poor as well, for what the owner claims. To me, that is a $200.00 gun at best.

Regardless of the price, I would advise you to save your money on a damaged gun and look for an unmolested specimen in high-90s condition. Those would land in the $400-450 range in most places, or $350-400 if you are lucky. The 1946-1948 long action M&Ps might bring a few dollars more than the 1948-1958 short action Pre-10s, but there is no rule about that.

Thanks for the advice. I don't "need" another gun right now anyway. In the last two months I'm way over my limit (whatever that is).

I also saw the gun. The seller said the grips were "period correct". They aren't period correct. With the hammer bobbed and the condition of the finish, I would pass. There are others in that price range that are much nicer. BTW, I am over my limit for the next 10 years. But, I am always looking. It is truly a sickness.
