Post War N Frame Thread

I was doing some safe re-arranging. I couldn't find an appropriate thread so I figured I would make one.

You guys have some post war pre-1961 N frames right? You should post pictures of them here. At this point I feel like my collection is done and I expect you guys can show me why I am wrong.


Left to Right: 1959 Model 27 5" | 1961 Model 27 6.5" | 1966 Model 57 4" | 1964 Model 57 6" | 1956 5 Screw pre-29 4" | 1957 4 screw pre-29 6.5" | 1955 model of 1955 6.5"

I'm not really interested in completeness, just that I like every gun. The post war .44 specials are very cool but I like that high polish blue and the expense of them seems prohibitive. As to .38 Specials I like my pre-war's too much to spend money on a post war.

Oh man, don't get me started on pre-war N frames. That's an even harder picture to take. I had a rough enough time trying to get my camera far enough away from this pile to get a picture.

Also I realize I am violating the rules of this thread slightly by posting the model 57s, but everything else fits onto this forum. I should note that's what I would like to see, the fine post war pre-1961 guns.

Beautiful, but you do need at least one more: a 44 Special pre - 24.

Great gun, you ever figure out who it was who did those sights?

David Carroll thought it was either King or a name like Mershom. I can't find any markings on the sights at all and the front sight really looks home made. That's where it currently rests. Thanks for asking.

I had a 4" Pre-28 but didn't really see the point after getting a 27.

Not so much better,But I like all .44spls.My Pre Model 24's are my most accurate .44's though.My 4" Pre Model 21 and 4" Pre 24 are Two of the most useful Guns S&W ever made IMHO.

I have very much enjoyed the photos of the great guns posted so far in this thread. But, I had to give specific praise to the following - not only for the guns themselves, but specifically for the photographs of the beautiful guns:

This one always makes my heart race a little faster, as it is a beauty, in addition to the fact that it is the only production, P&R N-Frame 357 model variation (RM, Non RM, TRANSITIONAL, Pre-27, 27, 27-1, 27-2) that I do NOT have in my collection. I am however, very glad that Chad takes the time to share it with the rest of us...

I appreciate all of the comments, as time permits I will picture up a few here and there. My brother Matt and I have collected vintage Smiths and Colts for several years. We have always based our criteria on obtaining vintage new in the box perfect examples. Primarily pre war/early post war guns. Common or rare as long as its NIB. We like the rare and obscure of course but a common 4 inch M&P thats never seen the light of day excites me just the same. Once again thank you, more to follow.
