Favorite grips for 5" pre-27
Just picked up a shooter grade pre-27 with 5" barrel.
What are your favorite grips for this revolver?
Are there any grips larger than the stock magnas but smaller than target stocks for this gun?

My favorite grip is the stock Magna with a Tyler T Grip adapter.

Cokes would be ideal. They have less girth than regular targets and would match the vintage of your pre-27. The trouble is they are too expensive. Magnas plus a grip adapter would also look correct and wouldn’t add as much girth as targets.
I'd go with Herretts’ Shooting Stars. They have less girth than targets and were around when your revolver was new. You can probably find a less than perfect pair that matches the condition of your pre-27 and is very affordable.

A nice pair of the Executioner's stag grips w/ Tyler T-grip adapter. After all you are in Colorado...a touch of the "old west".
Also Spegel makes a nice set of his "extended boot grips"..... 3/8inch below the grip frame........ in black walnut only about $70.

I'm spoiled. The Pre-27 (5") on the right has custom Ropers I ordered from Keith Brown a couple years ago, fine line checkered 24 lpi. The M-25-5 (6") and the Pre-24 .44 (6-1/2") on the left have custom magnas, smooth and checkered that I made. I prefer magnas with a Tyler adapter.

I'm with k22fan, I like the Cokes. That's what was on my 27 no dash when I purchased it and I love the feel. For a shooter I don't think I would pay the price but if that was all that was keeping it for being all original and 99%, I think it would be worth it.

I like the regular magnas with a grip adpter, also. Targets are too large at the bottom where the shorter fingers are trying to grip the gun. A friend has Eagle "Roper" style on his and they don't seem to be as large at the bottom of the grip as regular S&W targets are.
