Default 1912 Hand Ejector - 1903 Fifth Change

I'm new to this forum and wonder if any of the experts here could give me an approximate value on my pistol. I have the S & W factory history on this pistol, and it's a .32 caliber Fifth Change model shipped to New York City from the factory on February 3, 1912. This revolver is in excellent condition. Virtually all the nickel plating is still on it, and the cylinder is tight. It has apparently not been shot very much over the past century. It has a 4.25 inch barrel and the original black hard rubber grips.
Do any of you guys have a good idea what I could sell this gun for? Thanks!

Cordially,
Blanco

Welcome to the forum. In my opinion any .32 Hand Ejector from before WWII in good operating condition and with only slight wear is at least a $300 gun. For what sounds like the better (but not perfect) condition of yours, I would think $400 is not out of the question.

I say this without seeing either the gun or photographs, of course, so the values are provisional. If the gun looks good because it was refinished at some point, the value to collectors will drop and so will the price.

Any chance you could post photos? There are threads around here that tell you how to use Photobucket or some other photo hosting service. Or you can upload them with your posts. Use the "Manage Attachment" button down below the composition window on the posting page. Pay attention to filesize limits or they won't come along with your message.

Welcome to the Forum.

Your revolver appears to be a pre-Regulation Police, with those extended grips. Does the factory letter mention them?

All the letter says about the grips is that the pistol was shipped with "checkered black hard rubber grips". Another member of this forum has suggested that the grips appear to have been slightly shaved to fit the hand of a previous owner or perhaps even replaced with smaller grips. I checked the back of the grips, and there is no serial number.
