Default 22 Long Rifle CTG (Maybe K22)

I am new to this forum, and not sure if I am in the correct area of the forum... I need some help identifying this revolver, it belonged to my dad and now I have it...

It has the following numbers: Y 1433 and S/N K 243XXX

Could someone identify the model and age of this gun? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I have attached a picture of the S/N

I also added two pictures of the actual gun, for some reason they would not download before...

Thanks,

Pete

Very nice. Serial puts it shipped around 1955. That's a 5 screw model with some nice non-relieved target grips. Those are a lot of fun to shoot and very accurate pistols.

That's a beauty. Something to definitely cherish as it was your Dad's. As jsfricks has said, they are a pleasure to shoot.

The model name is K-22 Masterpiece. After 1957, when S&W adopted numerical designations for the different models they produced, this was called the Model 17. Thus you will sometimes hear K-22s from the preceding decade called Pre-17s.
