5 screw K22 Combat Masterpiece Help
Have a chance at a very nice one with box for $650.00. Definitely 95+% and probably 98% but I am no appraisal expert so we will go with that. This gun isnt necessarily on my want list, but you don't see these very often. In 2013 is this about the right price or a little high? The box has brown paper and a cleaning rod end only inside and I believe is gold in color. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Dosen't seem high to me. At least in my area. I bought a 5 screw about a year ago for 625. The dealer was asking 700. Mine has a little freckling on the side plate but it sure is fun to shoot. No box or accessories with mine.

It's a good price if you are looking for one. The gold box (if original) dates it from the late 1940s to the mid-'50s but if you have the SN handy we can tell you when it left the factory.

I would check to see if all the serial numbers match including the grips, box etc. Check or get someone else to look to see if it has been refinished. Test lock up. If all seems good that would be a very reasonable price in todays market. I would buy it.

The 4" 5-screw K22 is the Combat Masterpiece, and if it is really in the condition you describe you should buy it. They are not seen in that condition that often and that is a good price. The original gold box would be icing on the cake.

IMHO I'd say that's correct pricing about 3-4 years ago.
I promise you this, if you get it and shoot it you'll be
giggling the rest of the day and the money won't seem
that important.
I was fortunate to find a 1953 K-22 CM here back in 08-09
with matching box, stocks, cleaning rod, and mop for $525
delivered and I'm pretty sure that was a steal at the time.
(Eternal thank yous to laytonj1 on that one.)

Price is good, and if you don'[t buy it you will be kicking yourself as you may not see another this nice to buy for several years.

That is one of the nicest guns S&W ever made - I shoot it more than my Target Masterpiece. The price is right. I recently sold a nice one for $650 and bought an even nicer one for $750 - both without box, which is worth about $75 by itself.
