I saw this at my LGS and was interested ...S/N 421467
Something about the grips, trigger and hammer, s/N placement and not being a Round Butt make me think this has been altered..significantly.
AM I right or is this a legit gun?
Ignore the price tag.. or don't..
That's a completely correct .32 Regulation Police from about 1925, maybe 1926. I can't see if the serial number is written on the inside of the right stock panel, but if it isn't there the stocks might be replacements. Even so, they are correct in configuration for the era of the gun.
There's nothing phony or modified about that one. The sticker price is about a third too high, but that just means there is room for negotiation. ("A third too high" means discount the asking price by 25% to get what I think a fair price would be; if you can get it for even less than that, do so.)
A good .32 RP is a fine gun to add to one's collection.
David,
I was thrown off by the sq butt and was only thinking 3rd model HE. I completely forgot about the RP. I had my SCSW with me on my I phone but it doesn't show a RP except a target model.
I am glad it is not a cob job. It reminded me of a Berkeat (sp) except smaller but I was looking at the wrong place in the catalog... You can miss things on a phone screen when you don't have big real life pages! I guess I will pass because he only usually comes down what the tax would be. I have got a lot of good deals from him...just not this one.
