Default S&W model of 1905 3rd. change

I'm looking at a S&W model of 1905 3rd change with a 5 inch
barrel, ser. # 189xxx that's been used with a good patina,
but the grips are the later smooth magna's with no medalions

I think I have found a period correct set of grips for this S&W
1905 that have a square butt, checkered, diamond cut, and
no medalions. The width of the base is 1 3/4 inches, and when
stood up on a table the height is 2 15/16 inches tall.

Would it possible for someone with the same model measure
their grips to see if I can use these period correct grips on
this 1905 I'm looking at? I think I can get a good price on the
revolver because of the incorrect grips on it now.

Any help would be appreciated!

By those dimensions, they are the correct size.

From the serial number, the gun is probably early 1912, which would mean gold
medallions. I assume the grips you are considering are the so-called concave
non-medallions, meaning that they have no medallion, and curve inward in the
top region where the medallion would be. They would be OK, but not period
correct. Their use stopped in about 1910.

And if the grips are not concave and have no medallions, they are way off...from the 1920s.

I appreciate the reply guys. Yes, the grips I'm looking at are
the concave non medallion type. So, the search continues
for a period correct set with the gold medallions.
