Late 50s K-22 hammer/trigger type?
I found the pictured K-22 (or early 17) on a local web site. I may go look and make an offer, but I'm unsure about the hammer/trigger. Do those look correct for a K-22 of that era? I would have expected targets.
Thanks!
P.S. thanks mucho to Paladin for his excellent article.

Target hammers & triggers were usually special order from the factory. I would say most K22's came with the standard hammer & trigger.

Mid-to-late 50s is when the change took place from the early post-war high-speed (aka fishhook or sculpted profile) hammer to the standard hammer that appears on your picture. I have a July 56 shipped 4-screw K-38 (K2718XX) that still has the early hammer profile and have heard of even later examples. I also have an October '57 shipped 4-screw K-38 (K3033XX) that has the newer style hammer . . . so I've concluded the transition occurred shortly after the change to a 4-screw K-frame and just before model numbers were assigned.
Can't answer your question about this specific example but hope the above data helps.

Thanks!
So, any thoughts as to price/value? I searched GB completed auctions but did not see any three screw sideplates.
He's asking $600 and it's a 45-minute drive. That sounds a bit high but not too far out of line for the condition it appears to be in.

It may sound a bit high, but I've seen less sell for more. I'd drive the 45 minutes to see it up close & personal and then decide.
Good luck, Russ

The price is not high unless it's been reblued and I see no sign of that. Unfortunately for those of us who are not sellers the price of K frame .22 LRs just wont budge off the highs they shot up to during the first Obama ammo shortage.
What might help bring them back down to more reasonable levels would be for Ruger to introduce a full size DA .22 LR. For reasons I don’t understand Ruger has always refused to compete in in the DA target revolver market.
