Default Heavy Duty

Hi all...

Circumstances caused me to sell off my S&W collections a few years back. Its hard to get started collecting again as too many good guns were sold off, and you doubt they will ever be replaced. Gone are the days of easily finding high condition named guns ....at affordable prices. Sigh.

Well...anyrate, maybe a collection of working guns will fill the bill. Little more user friendly on the wallet.

Picked up this Heavy Duty Model of 1950 that was built in 1955...making it a birth year gun for me. Little worn around the edges...but then, so am I....

After I bought it...the fellow that had it asked if I wanted the other one? He had a nickle pre war in 4" from 1937.

Dang,

Here we go again.

Very nice revolver. I'm a fan of 38/44s.

Try to find a set of diamond checkered Magnas for it. That would make it about perfect to me as I like them with a little character. (smile)

Gentlemen: One should NEVER sell off an entire collection, keep at least one piece. Until we can get the liberals off our backs and have a new generation of sportsman, hand guns will be scarce and good pieces irreplaceable. Money can be had from other sources and time usually solves all problems, even terminal illness.

I'm with gizamo, prices for 38/44's in great shape are out
of control. I'm picking up "working" examples of desirable
S&W's at reasonable prices that I can shoot and holster with-
out worrying about ruining the finish. Besides, they will just
go up in value as they don't make them anymore.

I think its about to be a good time to be buying guns. Prices have stabilized in the last couple of months, LGS stocks are up, and production is high. Which means after ten months of feeding frenzy purchasing, prices are about to fall hard. Maybe not so much for collectables, but even they will be affected by a weak gun market.

Giz;

If yer not lyin' 'em on scratchy rocks it appears yer lyin' 'em in wet succulents on a rainy day.

Sure is good to see you featuring a neato Smith & Wesson Heavy Duty here on "Big Blue."

Giz,

Really nice to see you back on the board, my friend. Those two are fine re-starts to your collection.

For those newcomers who don't know him, Giz is one of the good guys who makes this Forum so much fun for us all.

Yep, it's pretty apparent that the "collecting virus" was still alive and well in your bones and just looking for an opportunity to assert itself again!
