Default Four Screw 10-6

I am looking at a four screw model 10 auction where the seller claims it is a 10-6. I thought 10-3 was the last four screw. In what year did they stop producing the 4 screw K frames?

Hi
I'm on the road and can't look this up, but my recollection is about 1961, maybe 1962.

According to the book, "10-6 (1962) Trigger screw eliminated on heavy barrel model."

Hope this helps.

If a k precedes that number it's 1969.

If that is the serial # s939xxx it is a postwar M&P that was using up pre war victory parts, probably a 1948-1950 gun. long before model names came out. and it would be a 5 screw.

what 4 screws are you counting?

Dan

Thanks Dan!

It probably is a 5 screw and I'm not seeing all the screws in the picture. I would say you are correct because it has the WWII style hammer.

s939xxx would be from late 1947 - early 1948. The High-Speed hammer was adopted in February 1948 at about S990000.

Is the high speed hammer the one that looks like the current hammer in profile?

This revolver probably shipped in autumn of 1947, Sept would be my guess. It is definitely not a Model 10 of any sort.

Yes. It is. AKA "short throw hammer."

All indications indicate it is what is referred to as a Pre-Model 10 I think.

the seller's description of 10-6........is it possible the"6" is referencing the barrel length?
