Model 36 Manufacture Date
Just picked up a very nice Model 36 and I think it was built between 1959 and 1961 the serial number is 1407XX
Sure would like to know the Manufacture Date

That's probably about right - maybe 1958.
But keep in mind you will probably not ever learn the "manufacture" date. S&W records generally only reflect the shipping date, not when the gun came off the assembly table. If you want the exact ship date, you will have to request a letter from Roy Jinks.

Take her out for a nice dinner. Then explain that when you letter a Smith you are spending a few of your hard earned dollars to help future generations by preserving important bits of history. We do this "for the children . . ."
