I love those revolvers, and your new one is exceedingly sweet!
The other two are no slouches either. Congratulations!

"Very nice" is putting it mildly.
I really like those in that range. I hope to find one sometime myself.

Bill, that's a good looking trifecta. Strong work. Maybe you'll score that last missing box this coming weekend.

Bill,
Great post. That is certainly three winners, and fun to look at.
Congratulations on putting them all together.

Nice Transitions now you need a 357 and a 44 to go with these.
Jim
Bill I have owned the following S-70785, S-70161, S-69979, and S-69727
I will have to go check my safe but I only have one left.
3 have went to new homes with collectors.

Congrats Bill, nice set. I picked up a cherry transition OD, #S71261, shipped 11/4/46, last winter. It's tough to get to these before you and Jerry snap 'em up! Ha!

Tom,
I'm no competition to Jerry! I would most likely only like a Transition that has a RM barrel.

Those RM barreled ones are rare. I would love to see one myself some day.
Nice set Bill on the OD's. They are fascinating guns to shoot.

I've got a chance to pick up a similar gun, a 38/44 outdoorsman from 1953-54. The serial number is S97xxx, grips are correct (didn't take them off) and it's 80-90% on the blue. No rust, just honest wear. 6 or 6.5 inch barrel.
Is it worth $700?

Outstanding guns, Bill. Are the OD transitionals, as varied as the HDs, with the mixing of pre-war and post-war parts. I notice all yours are long action, and 2 with just Made in USA on the frame.

Actually, all transition 38/44s I've seen have pre war style hammer and trigger, one line address, large ejector rod knob, long action, and high horn grips.

This Transition 38/44 Outdoorsman was shipped to William H. Hoegge CO, Los Angeles CA on September 12, 1946. Get this Jerry-there were 30 in the shipment! There must be a lot of them floating around out there.

There were 30? Wow, that has to be one of the biggest shipments of OD's I have heard of. Where are all of the rest of them?

I'd like to find one of the other 29
Bill,
whats up with the sights on your latest addition? The front sight looks quite a bit taller than the normal sights I have seen, and the rear sight appears to be a later style rear sight with the domed windage/elevation screws.

Kris,
The letter says Patridge front sight which it is and as early as this was made after the war, who knows. THe rear sight is just like the other two except for 2 of the screws. I really don't know what screws the 69000 series of Outdoorsman used. Jerry would have to tell us as he is the resident expert.

Bill, here's mine: 4 line, S 722XX (did you mean just OD's?)
(I've scored some correct grips since taking this picture)

Jimmy,
Yes I was referring to 38/44 outdoorsmans-I bet yours does not have the patent info and address on top of the barrel, but you have a large ejector rod head.
