I thought they were real too , but the football is significantly different then many others . It is centered and too small !?

some of the earlier "football reliefs" were smaller in both K and N frame target stocks

those are the real deal and very nice stocks. VM is correct, earlier stocks had a smaller relief area.

Didn't he have those for sale in a few places? My first thought would be that he sold them elsewhere.

Real
I know the seller personally. Class Act and a very good member here on this forum. I believe them to be real and trust the info he had on them. Hopefully he sold them. They were beautiful. Just my. 02 cents.

The stocks are correct and probably date to around late 58 to early 59 when the relieved area on the left stock panel began to appear. I think the price was pretty good as you don't see stocks like this very often.

Wow, just an exceptional pair of impossible to find stocks. I would probably pay that price if I had a revolver that deserved it.

Didn't you have them up for sale here a short time back? If the set I saw wasn't yours, maybe you could give yours a try here.

no record of the auction being pulled , no record in the sellers history , no evidence the auction even existed .....go figure

Ebay has been acting really weird for me lately. I've noticed that sometimes things are up but you can't access them, sometimes if you have the exact number you can get to them and it turns out that they are actually active auctions.

Like Retired W4 said, the auction ended with the grips sold. Sometimes it takes awhile for completed auctions to register at eBay.

Well I'll be , when I search eBay for completed auctions under "N frame grips" or "S&W grips " - there is no record of the grips were talking about being sold ;
further more , if you do an advanced search of the this sellers ( alex1961m )recently "sold" items .......there is no trace of any such sale ........ go figure a second time

I had them on my watch list and saw the auction end. They'll probably show up sometime later tonight if you search sold items.

o.k ..I will keep an open mind and wait for them to show up under the completed listings ; possibly the orig. feller (05CarbonDRZ) that posted them for sale here and on eBay the first time had someone else auction them for him this time around .

I guess I'm not sure what the fuss is all about.
Did the seller do something wrong or deceitful?

I think I had stocks like that on a 6.5-inch M-29 that I owned years ago. They were def. very similar, and I liked that gun a lot. It came in a wooden case with accessories.
It was among several guns that I had to sell when VA Education Bill checks arrived late. The M-29 (don't know the dash) was extremely accurate.
I had it in my hand once when someone tried to break into my motel room. Turned out to be a drunk whose wife found him just in time. That no doubt avoided a lot of hassle, which included how a .44 Magnum fired indoors would affect my hearing. But it was the only gun I had with me.

They came in a variety of shades, which is some of the beauty of the wood type:
The grips on the right in the top picture are Herretts, the rest were made by S&W

What's a reasonable price for a set of J-frame smooth rosewood Magna stocks? They do have the S&W silver logo and are definitely real S&W wood. I've had them for decades, and probably won't sell unless I have to at some point.
I had them on a square butt M-36 three-inch heavy bbl. gun, with Tyler adaptor. The gun felt very good in the hand. I'd like to replace it, or get a M-60 equivalent, if I ever have some spare cash.
The grips look like new. They are a rich dark reddish purple brown with darker streaks. That's the sort of rosewood I like.
