Default 38 M&P 1905 Fourth Change Question

I found a fair to less than fair condition 4th change in a LGS friday. In researching it in the SCSW I read the following excerpts in the description and variations sections:

"Round butt or square butt (scarce) frame with service stocks or square butt only frame..." pp. 139

"Variations

Square butt frame worth two times value." pp. 140

The gun I located is a square butt. In looking on this site and other internet locations, ALL the 1905, fourth change guns I have seen photos of had the Square Butt. I have seen others in person over the years and cannot remember ever seeing a round butt

My question is the SCSW correct or is it a misprint? Second, if the SCSW is correct, is the square butt really worth more? This will aid in my decision to purchase or pass.

Thanks,

Bill

That is an error in the otherwise excellent book.

Default Typo confirmed

I can't find it for the life of me, but someone "here" had confirmed the the Square butt (scarce) was, in fact, a typo... The target will bring a premium seems to be true.

See p. 139, SCSW. 3rd. edit. This a well known error to most S&W HE collectors, but it's a handy misprint when you are selling a square butt S&W Model 1905, 4th to a Colt Collector. Ed.
