So lets talk about the 10-3's
Recently found and bought a 10-3 with a lot of wear. Always wanted a model 10 that came with diamond grips on it and a hvy bbl. When I saw this was a -3, I jumped on it. Is this the dash number that was in production only about 3 months? Its been carried and the timing is perfect. Larry

The Catalog says the M10-3 came out in 1961. The M 10-4 in 1962.
It apparently wasn't made for long.

Like the J's the K's ran a tapered and heavy barrel concurrently, the dash numbers flip flop. The next change to the heavy barrel was the 10-6, but yes it was in 1962. -4 &-5 were changes to the tapered barrel.

I'm severely behind on shooting the guns that I have bought recently. Can't wait to shoot this one. The -3 has a cool factor. The M&P's and model 10's are the back bone of S&W revolvers and I wanted to add a hvy bbl one. The good amount of wear gives it some personality, Larry
