Letter Arrived Today Pre 27 3.5 ** Xmas Eve Letter **
Received a Very Cool Xmas Present today in the mail when I got home from Church and Family Fesitivities...
Shipped Nov 18th, 1954 to Rex Firearms Co...Wish Elvis had owned it, but Still neat as heck...Now im in the hunt for some Rex Firearms memorabilia to complete a Display...
From what I can gather Rex was kind of the Performance Center of today..they handled alot of Two Toned revolvers and Engraved pieces...Too bad mine wasnt a Pinto...but I love her just the same...
Any Info members may have or want to share about Rex would be much appreciated..

Right on Brother. Very cool indeed.
Something about a 3 1/2" pre-27 that just reeks "Business".

What an Great Package jj.-- Just to verify the point that S&W didn't really ship in sequential order, I have one in the S124xxx range that shipped November 23, 1954 to Paxton & Gallagher in Omaha, Ne.,-- Exact same configuration as yours.

Wow, that's a real purdy pre 27. I can see why you favour that barrel length. It looks just "right" with the 3 1/2" barrel

Alex
I forgot about that Pinto. Very good chance they shared a room for awhile in 1954. Cool stuff. Alex, will you post or email me pic of the other side of that revolver. I want to see the other grip panel.
That Pinto is Amazing!!

Jim:
That is a really cool package you have there, revolver, box and all the accessories. What a nice Christmas present to get the letter to go along with it. Roy threw in a line for you in the letter that most letters don't have, i.e. the line about it being a "great collector's item." What a nice thing to do!
You have a fine revolver and it is always nice to find them in such condition that you feel like you just went back in time 59 years, give or take, and picked up your new revolver, and all its accessories. Back then, no permits or hassles - cash on the barrel head.
Good show!
Congratulations!
Shawn

Nice gun and complete package too Jim !
My closest .357 S-135260 shipped Jan, 1955 also a 3.5"
Love those old ads, Wall full of booze in the background and nobody caught that the she/male's eyes were closed, surprised they werent both smoking since it was healthy back then and many family Dr's recommended it to "calm the nerves".

The person on the right is, I believe, Arvo Ojala, who was very famous at the time for his quick-draw holsters used by all of the big name movie and TV cowboys. Original Ojala rigs bring magnum bucks now.

How cool..great package.
This gun was shipped to the same location dang near the same date.
I will check for sure this weekend.
I think another member has a couple Smiths shipped about that same time to the same dealer.
IIRC it was a group of 10 revolvers.
