Default Seeking price comment on 2d model .455 HE

I would be curious to hear comment on the following: 2d model Hand Ejector, (the one without the ejector shroud) caliber .455, _not_ modified to .45 Colt, I checked, no military markings or British proofs, mint condition, original finish, original grips. By mint condition I mean owned by a little old English lady who carried it to church once a week and only fired it on Guy Fawkes day. Put another way, if I had a circa 1915 factory box I might be able to pass this weapon off as returned by the original buyer the next week.

Sellers' price: $900 plus around 8% tax. Seller has prior history of willingness to haggle a little and yes, I know to initially offer less than the sticker price. Thanks for any comments in advance.

If original as described, well worth the price. No signs of a refinish at all? We need photos!

It will sell at that price. Probably very quickly.

I anticipated the request for photos, which I cannot provide. I felt the item was overpriced because it had no military markings. Given the comments received so far--and I invite more--I might revisit this item, assuming its still available.

If the gun does not have military markings could be one of the left overs released to S&W distributors after WW 1. I purchased one a Tulsa letters to Shapleigh in St. Louis.

Those sold on the civilian market are far rarer than military examples!

A 80-90 year old mint condition N-frame for $900?
Buy that gun.

How about a little guestimate of the value of a .455 2nd Model I recently acquired. It is in excellent condition, and all #'s matching. "Except" that it has been sleeved to 38 Special. The only indication I originally noticed when it was in the case at Cabela's was the front sight had been modified.

I paid what I thought was an reasonable price, $550 for it, knowing the original value is way down. Workmanship on the conversion was excellent.

That gun deserves it's own thread. I don't know what it's "worth". It appears somewhat unique. Given the conversion was well done, I would have jumped for $550. I think you could get your money back fast.
