My possessed Model 1955
Got this very nice condition 1955 this weekend at the local show, only issue is no original stocks, put these stained maple Ahrends on it. Things I know:
I love it
It's a five screw
It may be possessed SN S1 666xx
Any info, thoughts or comments on this model appreciated

Nice gun. You better send it to me for an exorcism. It'll only take about 10 years or so and I'll send it right back. Promise.

Keep watching eBay for correct Magna grips. A nice pair won't be cheap. The closest SN I have listed to S1666xx is SN S1650xx which shipped in 6/56.

Just got home from testing some new hand loads. This gun shoots! Won't take long to work up a good load, the first one I tried I'm happy with.
230 gr. coated LRN(GLC), 5.6 gr. HP-38 @ 1.270". Hope in works as well with auto rim brass.

I believe the original stocks were diamond targets. Mine are non-relieved walnut. The model 1950 had magnas as standard. BTW, they are great shooters.

Possessed or not, you're gunna love it. Those early 1955s are among the best big bore target revolvers ever produced.

Most of the ones I've including my S130745 have unrelieved rosewood targets but that's not to say none were shipped with magnas or the targets were added later by the owner.Mine had a spare set of N diamond magnas that number to a different gun.
I've seen unrelieved in Maple but I think maple is incorrect for 45cal 5 screw Model of 1955

My 1955 Target of about the same vintage came equipped with this set of unrelieved walnut diamond stocks. You don't find these for sale very often today.

I can't get a picture to come out clear, but my 1955 has an unmarked cockeyed hammer. Is/was this common? I've read about the Kings and others, but it has no marks or telltale design features to it.

King's hammers are marked pretty clearly. Micro site hammers usually are and can be very hard to read.

The only way to know for sure would be to letter the gun. Make sure to take photos from all angles and include with the request. If you have specific questions, make sure that you include them with the request. The letters currently cost $75 or about 3 30 packs so you will have to give up beer for a couple of days.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If your revolvers letter to being delivered to the Prince of Darkness, they would be worth a considerable amount.

The bottom pair of unrelieved N target grips are the ones that were on the 5 screw 1955 S130745 when I purchased it from original owner.Included was the N magnas pictured on the right.
The lighter color unrelieved N target grips on top I acquired separately and are not numbered.

Here in Louisiana we just stop by the Church and have the Parish Priest perform an Exorcism .
If that doesn't do the trick there are other rites that can be performed but that usually involves a trip into the deep swamp and a Voo Doo Woman, rabbit's foot, toad and rattlesnake bones and a full moon !

I don't mind if I unwittingly made a deal with the devil if that's what it takes to have a revolver that shoots this good. I just tried two more loads after work today(I work part time at an indoor range)

I'm a little curious, but not $75 curious. I quit drinking in 2010, the money I save goes towards lead.
