Default Unable to 100% identify my revolver

Howdy, I'm new to the world of S&W so my knowledge is a little under par. I was handed down a revolver from my pops a few years ago. After a few hours of searching the web, I'm not confident I've identified it correctly. There is so much to know! Any input would be awesome!!!

From what I can tell: K frame, 5 screw, adjustable sights, .22lr with a 4in barrel and pre-dash?

K 22 combat masterpiece. AKA pre model 18. Great gun, in that condition $700 + or -. After 1957 they were call model 18s. Can't see the whole serial number but if it is 6 digits, starting with 2025XX, that would put in early 1950s.

Here's mine and it's numbered box. Yours is just 1000 later in the serial number so it may have come in a similar box. Yours appears to have the high gloss finish (mine is mat) which may have been special order at that time though later it was standard.

Wow, I knew this forum was good! That's cool you have the original box for it, you don't see too many of those anymore. I appreciate the info as well, so many different variations it's difficult to match it all!

Welcome to the forum. You have a great looking pre18! These are not that common in that shape. Hang on to it. Have you shot it yet? It is a great shooter.

No, I have a not had an opportunity yet! With the recent shortage of .22 on the shelves, I've been hanging on to the few rounds I have. I'm sure the pistol will stay in the family for a long time!

That is a wonderful example of a 22 Combat Masterpiece. My Model 18 has the best single action trigger of any handgun I have fired. I hope yours is as nice.

This one is K22 CM s/n K17143X which shipped in Feb. 1953, so possibly yours shipped in the 54-55 time frame. It will be one of your favorites. Work of warning, don't let your wife shoot it (or you may not get it back).
