Default Wfe's birthday A "matched"pair of one liners showed up

I had been looking for a K22 for my wife for some time and came across this set K22 and K38 and they were to good to pass up.This was a presentation set given to the owners grandfather in the early 50s. I did tell him that he should keep them but I guess they didn't mean much to him--not as much as the $1000. he wanted for them. I'm reasonably certain that the nickle plate was an aftermarket job as I don't believe the factory plated the rear sights. The owner did shoot the K38 at some point and neglected to clean it--the residue was almost tarry and may have led to the nickle lifting. Other than the cylinder both guns were mint condition--the k22 showed no sign of being fired. I gave them to my wife for her 63rd birthday as she likes the nickle plated guns. I included a couple of pictures of her old freebie.
We took them out and shot them and wow the K22 is butter smooth, the best trigger I've ever shot and I thought my Model 17 was good. Dead accurate the wife was about 50% at 20 yards on a 3' "flipper" target. About 6 years ago out of the blue she said she would like to take up pistol shooting--never having held any type of firearm and is amazing at the range.Best part is if I find something to buy she says "get it, your not getting any younger"---and I do!
K22 is k24233, k38 is K13863
I'll post some more pictures as the system would only take four

Cool set,It looks like a big Medallion was affixed to the top of the Presentation case at one point.

Nice set. Looks like they were re-nickeled at one time.

K22 or K38 masterpiece factory nickel is extremely rare.

Very nice! I agree based on the photos (and the nickel rear sights) that they have been refinished, but at least the hammer and trigger were spared. They are both from about 1947 or '48 from the SNs, subject to the usual non-rules about S & W shipping in order.

Nice .38 DA also!
