He looks like Raymond Burr. I bet nobody called it a "shiny sissy pistol".

What an impressive array of old six guns! I keep going back and forth between your selections and can't settle on a favorite - although the King conversion sure sticks with me. Thanks, Mike!

Thanks a lot. I'll be tossing and turning thinking about the nickel '02 1st & '05 1st. Both are awesome guns.

I'm in love (spelled L-U-S-T) with the pre-Victory King Conversion. That to me represents the ultimate in pre-War "Smith-ness." Tell me about those grips... they just look too spectacular to be real, unless Keith Brown or someone of his ilk had a hand in their making. All in all a fine gun and a great display. That one set of pics may end up as wallpaper on my computer!
Regards,
Froggie

I Love Model 10's as well and they were the bread and butter revolver for S&W that paid the rent and utilities for the company.

They were certainly the primary model of S&W. In, "Dr. No", Ian Fleming said that the villain's henchmen had Smith & Wesson .38's of the "usual model", and I think we all knew what he meant.

Not many mechanical products have remained on the market fundamentally unchanged for 115 years, if you don't count things like hammers and screwdrivers.
