Default US Army model 1917

I just picked up one of these today and it's seen better days. It is the commercial model and is missing it's lanyard. The action is very tight. The grips are pretty banged up and I would like to replace them with the correct ones. I've read that the military version had smooth grips while the commercial had checkered. Where can you get new grips and a lanyard? Thanks in advance

Both turn up on eBay fairly regularly. Another option would be to place a request on this site in the "wanted to buy" location. You'll enjoy shooting it.

Rick,

First you need to determine the vintage of your 1917 by providing its serial # before anyone can help you know which grips are correct. Before 1920 they would be recessed gold, thru ~1929 no medallions and thru the war flat silver.

Does it have Made in USA on the right side frame? Mushroom extractor knob? A photo would really help.
