Went to a newly opened gun shop today to have a look.
Told owner I'm into Smith J frames. This is what he said came in yesterday He new it was old by box and original sales receipt from 1957 to a FBI special agent. and also by the original smith instruction manual in box. I hope i didn't pay too much will try again to post pic

Pictures are worth thousands of words. You bought an old '50s vintage J-frame attributable to an FBI agent, and it's in the original box? Hard to say what would be "too much" for that one! Congratulations and eagerly awaiting your pix.
Froggie
PS Pix came through while I was typing. It looks like you got a really nice one. Again about what you paid for it, I don't know, but it was probably worth it... whatever it was!

Wow! A flat latch Airweight Bodyguard with grip adapter and original box? The cool factor is on up there.

Nice Gun! What you have is referred to by collectors as a pre model 38 Bodyguard. It was just called "The Bodyguard" by the Factory. If the box is numbered to the Gun on the bottom it is a $750+ package.

Tim, nice gun. It's hard not love an early Bodyguard.
I deleted the post with the recovered images because they were unnecessary once the correct image links began to be displayed in the posts above.

$750 is several hundred bucks too low in value, IMHO. With the docs and FBI provenance, it's worth more like $1,000 up, mostly up... If it is available, I'd certainly be an interested party.
