I would appreciate thoughts on this older M&P 38spl.
The serial number is 316XXX
Can I know if the cylinder is heat treated or not (seems to be at the cutoff date based on what I read)?
Are the grips correct for the gun?
Thoughts on a value for this gun based on its condition?
Thanks for your consideration.
The serial number is just a bit low to have the heat treated cylinder, ca. 316700 as I recall. The gun dates to late 1919-early 1920 so it is definitely in the right date range. The stocks are the correct style for this time period. Price is pretty subjective, but I would say somewhere in the $175-250 range. Maybe a bit more if the gun is mechanically better than the finish would tend to indicate.
