Pre 19 in mint condition value
I was at a shop today and was looking at a Pre 19 in the wooden presentation case. It was blued with a 4 inch barrel I believe. I asked to hold it just so I could say I did and he handed it to me. It really looks NIB from my quick look over. What do they sell for and what is a reasonable price to pay? I didn't write the serial number down and probably should have but at the price I wasn't serious unless they'd move and it was consignment so it's owner determined.
Any thoughts on value on this? Market value and not blue book as they seem very different right now.

Well....Pre 19's did not come in wood presentation cases.A few VERY early Guns came in Blue cases similar to the Pre 29.It is likely the case was for a 4" N Frame and not a K Frame.

My guess a dead mint pre 19 combat magnum would bring 1,500.00 - 2,000.00 if not more.

For some reason the pre 19's don't bring big Money.I would put the value at the lower end of Lowhog's estimate,The $1,500 or less range.

The best starting point on a situation like this is what is the store asking? From that point, you can debate the over/under.

I agree with Bob on this one. Then if the price is under 1 k it would be a good idea to list the name of the gunshop. A phone number would be helpful as well...on second thought it would be best to pm me that information.
