Default S&W Hand Ejector 2nd Model in 455

I recently acquired the subject pistol. In taking it apart, I noticed that the serial #11XXX matches in two places: the cylinder and the bottom of the grip frame. There is another matching # 63XX which is on the inside of the side plate, the crane and on the frame near the crane. Is this an assembly # or do I have a mismatched pistol?

It is the assembly number and should match in the places you found it.
The serial should also be on the bottom of the barrel, the back of the extractor star and and on the rear of the crane. (This one can be hard to see. You have to look through one of the cylinder bores and use a good light.)

Welcome to the FORUM! Have you taken it to the range yet? Can you find .455 ammo? Just curious. Bob

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Is your gun a military model? Pictures would be nice. I have a commercial .455 HE that shipped in December 1917.
