Hello
This would be a .38 Combat Masterpiece from just before it became the Model 15. The book says 1958 for that serial number, probably early in the year. I know that K311xxx dates from 1957, so that sounds about right. Remember that even though model numbers were assigned in mid-year 1957, there is no evidence that any shipped that were so-marked until sometime in 1958, and the exact timeframe differs depending on the model.
I assume the front sight is a Baughman ramp?

Welcome to the forum.
You have a .38 Combat Masterpiece which became the Model 15 after Model #s were assigned in June of 1957 although not stamped M15 for up to a year later. From the # it was likely completed in early 1958

Welcome to the FORUM! You should really enjoy shooting that gun! I have a 67, which is the stainless model. Also have a 14-3, which is a 6" target model. There are many quality K frames out there. You have 1. Bob

I'd say so!
The Combat Masterpiece is a great gun and a favorite of mine. I suppose carrying one for a couple years in 'Nam was an influence, but I started shooting them before that.
Here are a couple pics of two that are in my collection:
The one on the right is a special order 5" made up for the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 1952.
The one on the left (and in the upper photo) is a 15-2 that my late father gave me some years ago.

Here is another pic of the MSHP revolver. This one shows it with period-correct stocks on it. The other pair in the photo are the stocks that were on the gun when I acquired it from the family of the trooper who carried it on duty. They are much later Magna stocks that were put on the gun by the MSHP armorer during one of its maintenance visits.

Thank-you all
I will take a few pictures and add to the post, The next question would be value, and the pictures I'm sure would assist in the valuation, If fires well and seems to be in very good condition, and thanks for the pictures in the reply showing grips, mine appear to be originals.

I think your Stocks/grips pre date the revolver.
They are called non relieved diamond targets.
If you look at Jacks they have a relief that looks like a football.
Very nice revolver
