Range report on my new old 357 Carry gun
Hi
Here is the Target from my Post Registered Carry gun. Now the rest of the story.
About 4 years ago I found this sad Post Registered on a table at Tulsa, it had been poorly refinished in Nickel and was in pretty sad condition. The price was right and I figured it could be put back in shape to be a carry gun. It was serial number 61245 and had a 3 1/2 inch barrel all the parts were numbered to the gun so that was a plus. The Side plate had been over polished and the Logo was gone I was able to find a side plate that fit with a little fitting.
Before I started on this project I took it out and shot it. It was really good so that made it
a little easier to decide to go ahead.
So I took it to my gunsmith friend and he stripped the nickel and did some work on getting it so it could be put back to original blue finish. So here it is one more back to a useful life.
Total cost for gun and rework is about 1500.00 I can live with that for a gun that shoots this good.

That's great Jim, those old wadcutters are some of my favorite ammo. Nice target, maybe one click right?

I need to test fire a few myself before snow flies. That could happen any day now here in Minnesota. Your a good shot.

Nice save on that old Smith, looks really nice. Good shooter too by the looks of that target.
Here's a pic of my old NRM. It's made FOUR trips back to Smith. It has 4 date stamps on it. It's probably been reblued a couple of times as the logo and lettering are light. It is one of my favorite shooters and gets shot frequently.

I really don't care what anyone says, I find guns that have been back to S&W multiple times significantly more interesting then a new in the box copy of the same gun. That registered magnum is among my dream guns.
This triple lock has been back at least 3 times that I know of, and it's all the better for it.

That's fantastic Jim. How about a picture of the other side? I'd like to see how the new side plate turned out.
