Default Heavy Duty 6 pack: one more joins the pack

This 38/44 Heavy Duty belonged to one of the Forum's stag grip makers and I first saw it on one of the famous auction sights about a year ago modeling a nice set of his pre war stag grips. The hump back hammer caught my eye so I messaged him asking if he'd be interested in selling it. He wasn't at the time, but he told me he'd be in touch if he ever was.

Fast forward to last week and I received a message from him asking if I was still interested. Thanks to Bill Patteson (1Aspenhill), I'm somewhat addicted to these things and I couldn't say no.

This one shipped in December 1939 and has just the right amount of wear and character on it so it can be holstered and shot without feeling the least bit guilty, but still enough of the deep bluing that makes my heart skip a few beats.

I'll never catch Bill and I won't even try, but I'm very happy with my humble six pack of pre war Heavy Duties.

left to right ship dates:

4/14/1930 5" blue second week production gun
7/11/1934 5" blue Pennsylvania State Police test gun
3/2/1939 5" factory nickel with a hump back hammer. Shipped to a Lieutenant in the Army Air Force who was KIA when his plane was shot down over Germany in 1943.
12/1938 5" factory nickel (waiting for a letter)
12/1939 5" blue with a hump back hammer
4/4/1940 4" blue with a hump back hammer (1 of 29) Sandusky Ohio Police gun.

Nice old gun! I love those stags and I'd like to find a set like that.

You're a little short on long barrels.

6.5" Pre war Heavy Duties are extremely hard to come by. They were not cataloged and special order only. I know Bill has a few, but I've never seen one for sale. If I did, I'd have it

Rick,

If a regular old Heavy Duty all by itself isn't enough - the addition of a HBH just pushes one over the edge. Congratulations!
