Default Masback Trophy Award won by Prob. Ptl. John Komar January 22, 1951 pre-model 32

I haven't done any research on Patrolman Komar as of yet, but I hope I will find some good information when I do. Any info or ideas on where to search for info regarding NYPD Officers would be appreciated.

Masback Trophy Award (NYPD) won by Prob. Ptl. John Komar January 22, 1951 pre-model 32 2" .38 S&W

Thanks to R. M. Vivas for the following copy of the NYPD's "Spring 3100" magazine article that named the winners of the various firearm awards from the academy class that included Officer John Komar. I cropped it down to just show the mention of Masback Trophy winner.

Very interesting revolver. There was some talk about the Masback Trophy some time ago.
I managed to find this link.
There is some information in this forum post. See #54. I believe if you contact the poster, he would have the answers to your questions.

M60 NY-1 and more NYPD guns

Thanks to a kind NYC librarian I now have scanned copies of the pages in the February 1951 Volume 22, No. 2 issue of Spring 3100 that mention my Masback Trophy gun. *Third page, second paragraph, and third page, top pic.

LOBO, I've got nothing to add, except I really enjoy reading stories such as this. Great old revolver with a history to go along with it. Thanks

Neat gun, like the trophy guns. The gun is dated 7 days after I was born. Larry

I love those little pieces of history. That's a real treasure that I'd love to own myself.

Are you sure it was this one? There are Masback Trophy snubbies from other years in circulation. Some months ago there was a Masback-engraved Colt DS from another year in the 1950s on offer on Gunbroker, and I've seen at least one Chiefs Special/Model 36 so engraved.
