I believe that would be about early 1952. The very first postwar .357 Magnum was serialized at S75514.

According to our "book" your looking at somewhere between 1951 and 1952. To get the exact shipping date you will have to get a factory letter from Roy to tell you that detail. Kyle

Hi, Kyle!!!
I rather thought I'd see you this week. Hope you are doing okay. Stop by when you have a chance to visit my side of the Valley. I should be around - not going out much these days, but I do plan to be in church tomorrow!

Likely it shipped in the first half of 1952. However, SNs often do not track very well with shipping dates.

I knew this serial number rang a bell with me... Is your's a 5" by chance? I have one with factory letter, late in the S839XX range with factory lanyard ring, that shipped in March of 1952. Kyle

The S-series N-frames started even earlier, prior to the .357:
S62,489 – S67,999……..1946 - Early 1947

Thanks.

Yes. And please include that .38/44 that I "let you buy." I'd like to take a good look at it.
See you soon!

Thanks.
We'll be gone from about noon until probably 5:30 or 6:00, if you mean tomorrow.

I do not know - all I have are some SNs and dates in that range, not the specific models. I would assume that most would have been .38/44s as it would have probably been the most popular N-frame revolver of that period, and logically the first caliber to go back into production after the war.

Welcome to the forum. 1955 is a bit late for that 5 digit SN. Somewhere between 1951-1952 would be the range for your newly acquired 357.
