Well, I'll keep the pot simmering. I have shown this one before, but I really like it so will show it again.

This is my 5" .44 Triple Lock that shipped in June 1910.

It wears KB Ropers quite well also:

Like everyone else, I love the checkering on the RMs and Pre 27s. However, it becomes art when the gun is done in nickel. Just check out Rick A's pics above. Stunning!

Commercial 1917 from July 1932

Commercial .455 HE with original holster from December 1917

.38-44 HD from 1956 refinished in nickel.

Pre-Model 28 Highway Patrolman (well used) from 1955.

Model 1917 from July 1918 refinished in nickel

And, Retired W4, if you ever want to repatriate that Wiregrass girl, let me know .

George Orwell once said, "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us."

As a steward of history I would like think that perhaps one of those men Orwell was speaking to might have carried this Model of 1950 Heavy Duty.

Boy, mine is like a Checker cab in a garage full of Ferrari's compared to some of the N frames that have been pictured.

But here it is anyway, four screw Model 29 no dash manufactured in '59 but likely shipped in 1960. Shown with the Bianchi holster that it spends a lot of time in when I am out hiking.

For some reason my computer won't allow me to "quote" Rick A on his 1954 Nickel 3 1/2-inch .357 Magnum. I was glad to see a year pegged to his as I just picked up 124274 in blue with the same barrel length at a gun show last weekend. Was trying to second guess when it was produced and was guessing 1952-1953.

I did show security all night each night so took some crummy photos of it at 4:00 in the morning. A little-used gun that suffered a bit from neglect and then from harsh cleaning. One section between two flutes of the cylinder has shallow pitting/harsh cleaning/cold blue issues but can be rotated to be "outa sight." Can't decide whether to use it to trade up into a better looking one, have it refinished, or put it to work. The third option is looking better every day.

That's glint from the harsh coliseum lighting and not bright wear from case head pounding on the inside of the back of the frame. It really doesn't show any firing were there.

The seller had lots of neato classic N-Frames from pre-model number days, especially lots of different models and variants of Smith & Wessons chambered for the .45 ACP.

Apparently, the Quote button is not working correctly. I can't get it to quote a post either in Windows 7 using the Chrome browser. Had to do the above manually.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post pictures of some of the very best revolvers that exsist . It would be hard pressed to actually pick any one winner out of this bunch.looks like it will be a multiple tie.

I have one target very close to that one done with a 29-2 four inch using Remington 180 gr jhp. I give it to the gun and not so much me. The only 30 rounds it has ever had through it, only to adjust the Millet rear sight I put on.Some day I will dig it out and send you a pic .your group is still better since I had one called flyer in the six.

Hello Laketime
I had some Luke Warm Luck sighting in this Gun prior to Selecting the right load for this Gun. Here is a Load that I tested just prior to find the Load Pictured all by itself that I now make my Staple Load after I made the correct sight adjustment's this revolvert is Just Deadly accurate. Regards, Hammerdown

Default Beauty from a "volume" perspective

A bunch of pre-war 357's and related boxes:

And my first, most in-expensive, sentimental favorite, well-used, smooth-as-silk, factory refinished, KB Kearsarge stock wearing RM (oh... and it shipped directly to King Gun Sight Co)...

@ Retiredw4.....I was hoping this thread would turn up some real beauties! I spend a lot of down time surfing the web for pictures of classic guns, and this board has the best. My very close friend is a 20 yr retired Ranger 1st Sgt who likes to look at classic Smith's. I will be spending a Thanksgiving with him and looking at this thread here.thanks again to everyone.

Nothing wrong with a little bit of character.

Nothing's perfect, and you'll feel better about using it.

Nothing wrong with a "plain jane" 27 at all.

I like mine just fine:

Although I have since moved those cokes to a more appropriate home. I need to figure out what stocks belong on that 27, since the cokes are now on my 4" S serial range model 57:

also models of 1955, those are pretty great too. I just wish I knew what was going on with the front sight, it letters as a patridge, but for the life of me I can't figure out how someone swapped it out so perfectly.

And for good measure my 4" triple lock, in a "well loved" state:

I may have an N frame problem.

The longer I collect S&Ws the more I feel that way too.
This is very nice collection of Smith & Wesson revolvers - and photos!

It's enough to "make ya' want to slap ya' granny," that well-loved 4-inch Triple Lock of Sixgun Strumpet's. That has the configuration, the patina, the "bi'ness-like look" and the caliber of my notion of the ultimate Triple Lock that I'd like to get 'hold of.

This .44 HE 2nd model used to belong to our late member Sandy Jacobs, IBSandy. It shipped Feb. 25, 1925 to F.T. Budge Co, Miami Florida. It was returned for an unknown reason (according to the letter) in Nov. of 1925 and again in 1957 for a refinish of the original nickel finish. The hammer and trigger appear to have the original cch. I'm holding on to it for Sandy's widow until she decides what to do with it.

I need to find the rest of this shoulder holster rig, even though the holster can be used as is on a belt, seems like this gun should ride higher for some reason.

(this thread inspired me to dig into my N frames again, I love these guns a little too much)

SixgunStrumpet,

Do you have more information about your 4" Triple Lock? I would like to know its approximate serial number and its approximate ship date.

Very similar to my 5" TL. Love it!

Nope. I need to letter it.

S/N 2315 with a star on it. 99% sure the star is for a reblue, with a high probability of some tuning up or repairing as the action is very very good.

Mine's #1103. No stars or re-work stamps. Mine has been carried a lot but not shot much. The action is like new, bore perfect. Original finish in protected areas. They look like stablemates.

Your triple lock might have had some rework. But I see no signs of a refinish. Love the 4 inch barrel.
