I guess I should post my "Trifecta" of a Baby Chief, a pre-War Terrier, and an early post-War 32 HE snub, as viewed clockwise from the top. The 32 is my most frequent CCW with the Baby coming second. I've just got to start reloading for the Terrier to give it more range time!

Well here is a pretty slick airweight that I owned at one time, a pre 37 with an alloy cylinder and scarce square butt.

Hello
here is an odd ball. This one is one of Only 1500 Made. it is a Cenntenial Air-Weight revolver chambered in .32 H&R Magnum. It remains to be Unfired in it's original Box shown with an Up-Grade of Factory Boot stock's made by altamont. Regards, Hammerdown

George,
I love those boxes in your OP. The grey sun ray with red corners is especially nice, I don't remember seeing one of those. Great thread.

Oh yeah, and a beauty it is! A nice late 1920s vintage, built on the cusp between extractor rod knob and stock medallion changes; '20s stocks and '30s knob, but may have shipped much later.

I'm thinnest on the little ones, a deplorable situation I realize.
Mrs. BMc carries this one presently, a Model 642-1 purchased new in 1998, the last new Smith & Wesson revolver purchased around here.
Favorite usnin' J-frame, a mid-1980s Model 649, done "retro."
Early Chief's Special, shipped early March of 1952
A World War I's Eve-produced I-Frame .32

Small frames? Okay, here are some, not like that big bulky stuff shown so far:
Some Ladysmiths and their Brazilian cousin (picture heavy)
From front to back, three Third Model Ladysmiths in .22 Long (refinished nickel with pearls, original blue and original nickel) and a Rossi Princess in .22LR:
Target Ladysmith acquired
Target Ladysmith (refinished):

I love the blued one.
Most people, who don't already know, will have a hard time getting the idea just how tiny the Lady Smith frame is from the picture, though. You need to add a K-Frame to that shot. Or even an I or J Frame.

Yup, it's a beauty. Aside from a few scratches on the side from the ejector star it's pretty clean.

Now that's a great shot. Amazing how tiny it looks even next to the diminutive Regulation Police.

This is an amazing thread, and sadly I have only one gun which may qualify: a 1909 Perfected with police rack number.

If you forgot you had it, it couldn't be very important to you. I will be happy to take it off your hands and provide it with the attention it needs.

Here are two additional small frame guns to add to the fun. An early chiefs special SN 594 and a scarce chiefs special target. Both are in the original boxes.

A couple older, less good looking I-frames.
.32 HE from the 19-teens.
Another from the same time period.
Model 30 no dash.

George,
Thanks for starting a nice thread and posting your gorgeous photos of your wonderful collection.
Thanks to all the other guys posting interesting examples.
After all the other wonderful examples this seem a little superfluous but here goes anyways.
John
Model 30

John,
Gorgeous, they don't all look that good even when new. A pre 1966 J frame, a Mod 30-1. Is it stamped Mod 30? I have one Mod 34-1 stamped Mod 34; no room for the dash 1.

Jim,
Yes. As best as my brain can recall I think I incorrectly labeled the model 30 in post #40 without a dash 1. Too tired to dig it out right now to confirm. I believe it is stamped 30-1. Thanks for the nice comments.
John

Here is a picture of the Model 34 no dash that I bought my son just before his 12th birthday. (In this state, New South Wales, children have to be a minimum of 12 years old before they are allowed to shoot any firearm).

Well he'll certainly be proud of that one! It looks brand new, like a time capsule from 1969 - 70.
A Model 34 would be a pre 1961 I frame however, and that one's clearly a J frame, Model 34-1. It's not unusual that the -1 is left off. With a serial # I can provide a pretty close birth date for it.
I can't say I understand the no shooting until 12. That's a bit of a shame, they learn faster and learn better at 6 than at 12. The boys (and girls) in our family start shooting and learn firearms safety with their parents after 6 or so.
But at least your son's wait is now over!

Thanks for the info Jim. I went back and checked the gun, confirming that there isn't a dash on the frame (when the cylinder is open). The serial number is M68073. From page 490 of the 4th edition, it says manufacture between 1973 and 1977. So I guess it's a 34-1 without the -1. Is that right?

Yes, that's correct. Sometimes if the Mod 34 is stamped close to the edge of the yoke, the -1 is past the edge and doesn't get stamped. I have one like that from 1972 and have seen others.
It's very likely from the last quarter of 1973.

And here are my two Model 36's; a square butt and round butt. The round Butt grips are a little light for my tastes. Any suggestions on how to darken them?

Sorry. Forgot about this one too. Another 36 only this one has a three inch barrel (shown with my 65-3).

Strip them with furniture stripper, stain with walnut stain, and use Birchwood Casey's Tru Oil as a finish coat.
