Cover of "Man at Arms" Magazine!
Anyone have a chance to see the cover of the latest issue of "Man at Arms" magazine? It's got a great shot of the first 4-inch .44 magnum engraved by the S&W factory, shipped in November 1956. From the bracebeemer collection.
Beautiful gun. Totally jealous!

bracebeemer is a member of the SWCA and this forum. I'm privileged to know him. He's an avid collector, a straight shooter and a true gentleman. I've seen quite a few of his treasures and all all I can say is, "Wow"!
A number of his guns will soon be published in a book on S&W engraving. I'll be buying a copy as soon as it's available!

Dave, thanks for the very kind words. Folks,Dave and I set up tables very close to one another at the Michigan antique arms show. We also see each other at club meets and he is a great guy with really nice S&Ws.
I can give you a little background on how this cover shot came into being. Mike Kennelly has been working almost three years on a book he is publishing on engraved Smith & Wessons.Man at arms publishing owned by Stuart Mowbray is photographing, doing the layout and printing the book. It's the only book dedicated to just engraved S&W's and Mike called me and asked if I wanted to have my guns photographed and included in his book. That's a no brainer!
My wife and I drove to Woonsocket RI in October and Stuart did the photo shoot. After he was finished he asked me if I would like one of my guns on the cover of his next issue Duh! "of course I would" That's how it came about.

bracebeemer: My apologies for using your real name in my initial post. I was simply listing how it was credited in the magazine. The post has been edited by another member.
Anyway, thanks for sharing such a beautiful gun! And congrats!

I'm sorry for the screw up on the pictures. This is my first attempt to post pictures(not very good ones at that) I'll try again.

Bill:
Who engraved that one - was it Harry Jarvis? I like it a lot.

RK...I have examined the 44 a couple of times. It is the work of Harry Jarvis.
