Default 38/44 Heavy Duty 5" barrel Transition

Merry Christmas to me (just a few weeks late)!

After finding a nice 4" Transitional 38/44 Heavy Duty a few years ago, I've had a 5" Transitional on my short list for sometime, but for one reason or another I haven't been able to score the right one until now.
All the numbers match on this one, and according to Roy it shipped in August 1946. By the looks of it, it has lived a very easy life of leisure. Is got just a few small handling marks on it and a pretty good turn line. Other than that, it's in very nice condition.

Now to complete the hat trick and find a 6.5" Transitional Heavy Duty.
It never ends!

That is a very nice one. Are you going to shoot it? My transitional 4" is one of the best shooters that I own.

What's not to like about that one? Very nice.

I agree about the inherent accuracy of the four-inch transitional. The first time I took mine to the range I got groups that made me feel that with enough practice I might even get halfway to good. I and K frame guns had never left me with that feeling (though I eventually developed a better relationship with them), but the extra mass of the HD just helped settle the gun down for a lot of closely spaced shots in a row.

Maybe once, but I've got a great shooting 4" Transitional and a few 5" pre war HD's that I shoot. The recoil shield on this 5" gun is pristine and I doubt it's got many rounds through it.

Early last year I picked up a very nice 38/44 HD Transitional
with a 4 inch barrel. I sent for a letter hoping it would letter
to being shipped in August 1946, my birth month and year.
Alas, it shipped in late July 1946. Just missed it!

That 5 inch 38/44 HD is a beaut.

Thank you.
I'll probably get it lettered and if it shipped on your Birthday and you want it, we can talk.
