Default SHOOT IT!!!!

If you don't shoot & enjoy it, someone at some point in time, will!!! Since it was your hard earned money that bought it, that someone might as well be you!!!

How about swapping the Cokes onto your 29-3?

Do you think you're going to hurt it somehow? It's unlikely - it was built to be shot. Use .44 Specials and it will shoot nearly forever.

You are much more likely to damage the cokes than the gun. They were bad to chip under the trigger guard where the grain was weak. Neat gun!

It may be just me, but when I don't shoot a gun in a while I think about getting rid of it. That is because- forgot how much I enjoy it. Bob

Sell me the early 44 mag, then you can take the money and buy another shooter grade 44 mag.

I wandered into a gunshop in Canton, CT years ago & bought a takeoff set of "cokes" for $5. They were prettier than my originals.

I've seen folks toss original vintage wood grips in the trash and keep cheap goodyears.

Yes, I have done some digging in the trash over it.

I fired nothing but magnums out of a MIM, frame mounted FP .44 for several years. It was none the worse for wear. Surely the superior construction of such a masterpiece would fare better

As others have said, take those cokes off before shooting!

I really enjoy shooting mine with the Cokes on... to me, they were the best fitting (to my hand) target grips that could be put on those guns.

I've bought guns just to get extra pairs for shooting with (don't worry; only a pre-24 & 25's).

^^^^ I agree. I have one Mod. 29 with Cokes and I find them to be the most comfortable, best-fitting factory stocks for the N-frame. Maybe not as form-fitting as rubber, but a lot prettier.

I put a pair of smooth Thai grips on my 29-3 and like them better than factory targets, and they look nice to boot. I even like Hogues better than the factory targets, I used those before the Thais.
