Welcome to the Forum.
That number dates to the early '70s.
Open the cylinder and see if it says Mod.- something. Should say M60, but I have never seen one with the flat latch or those stocks.
Almost looks like a nickle M36.

The serial number is on the butt of the revolver. Please check there.

Nice, the serial # dates your Cheif's Special to around 1955ish.

The Chief's Special became the Model 36 in 1957

Yes. As Smith357 told you, it is a Chiefs Special. At the time it was made there were no model numbers, it was simply called a Chiefs Special. By 1958, this model was called the Chiefs Special Model 36.
I'm sure you are aware by now that the stocks on your gun are not original.

Before 1957 all S & W revolvers and other guns had only a model name, like Chiefs Special. After 1957 they kept the name and also got a model number, like 36.
A 1955 gun only had a name; collectors will sometimes call a gun like yours a "pre-model 36" but it is not an official name. Hope this is helpful.
