My next door neighbor brought over a 4"RB with tiny factory grips on a 38 Special Smith and Wesson. Last patent date on barrel was Dec 1908. It's a five screw, with the pre-war WW2, hammer stud. Serial # is six figures: 1427XX. Please help me and let me know what year it was built!
SN 1427XX would date it from the 1910-11 period. If it is a round butt, it is a .38 Hand Ejector, Model of 1902. A square butt would be a Model of 1905.
