HELP! Fuzzy Farrants????
Alright guys and gals...I purchased this set of grips off of a popular auction site. Advertised as Fuzzy Farrants.
They arrived today and there are a few things I'm unsure of. Looking for any insight you stock experts have.
My "concerns"
1. Checkering over the brass portion of the right panel escutcheon.
2. Lack of escutcheon "plug" on the left panel.
3. Cutout on the inside, looks "too clean"?
4. Some of the checkering does not go right to the border.
5. N frame round butt (maybe this should have been my first clue?)
All the "questions" aside they are made of rosewood. Quality is very high. Checkering appears of his normal LPI. Checkering shape is a match. Finger grooves are consistent with others I have held/seen.
Photos:
At the end of the day they are BEAUTIFUL grips. The only reason I ask for confirmation of Farrants is because I paid "fuzzy farrant" money for them. Thanks to all who respond. I appreciate your thoughts!

They Look To Be Farrant Grips
They look like the real deal to me. I have had several pairs of his grips over the years, and the brass escutcheon were checkered, so there is no concern there. Mine also had similar checkering patterns as well. I think you did very well. Those are beautiful grips. Two of my Farrant grips pictured below.

If they are not actual Farrants, whoever made them is good. I personally have never seen or held left handed Farrant target or match grips {flared bottom, thumb rest}
In your photos the left grip panel has the escutcheon plug and right panel does not. All of my Farrants have the plug on the right grip panel. As for the checkering thru the brass escutcheon, I have a set for a J frame that has the checkering thru it. I know that he did this on mine as i went to his house and picked them up.
Could Mr. Farrant have decided to "mix it up" for this set of left handed grips?
They certainly look high quality.

I agree with the crowd.
I've had numerous sets of Farrant grips, and they sure look legitimate.
As for the screw plug on the left side, well, it could be he reversed it because they're left hand grips.
Anyway, it's a very nice looking set of grips no matter who made them. Nice score.

Dan,
They look great to me....I would have doubted that he was still making stocks by the time that the N round profile began, but that was still 30 years ago...
If I was a lefty, I would be all over those....they would do really well on a mountain gun.....so, what are you going to put them on?

First set of Left Handed targets I have seen by Farrant. I have no doubt they are correct.

There's a plug, too, if you look closely (back away from the monitor while looking at the first photo and you'll spot it).

Jep, I would concur - real deal. And yes with his attention to detail - the screw plug was probably reversed for the left hander - nice find!

Genuine Fuzzies
I have owned a very similar left handed pair of Fuzzies. Your pair are the target model with thumb rest, palm swell and lacquer finish (for $5 more). Nice condition and certainly meets the criteria of Fuzzie's work.
