Folks:
1. Hand ejector
2.Serial #346XXX
3. K 38 S&W Special CTG
4. 6 inch
5. Fixed Sight
6. 5 screws

Family history says WWI side arm.

Any truth as to dating?

I'd say it's a bit too late for WW I. I think the serial number should place it around 1919/1920, but I don't have access to my source materials right now.
It sounds like a standard .38 Military & Police (Model of 1905 - 4th Change, as collectors sometimes refer to these early models).

P.S.: This should be in the Hand Ejector subforum. Maybe a moderator will move it.

Don't feel bad about the WW I story. Family legend sez that my great, great granddaddy suffered a bullet wound to the stomach during the War of Northern Aggression.

A check of the records revealed he had diarreha.

Yes, my only relative that died in the Civil War was one that was kicked in the head by a mule.
